Sometimes you need a livestream to know which way the wind blows.

Livestream NOAA Stage
Commerce Secretary Lutnick answers questions from NOAA staffers.
Metro Teleproductions got the call to provide live streaming services for NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency, headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland. This was an all-hands meeting with the new Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick. NOAA is part of the Commerce Agency. The Secretary was addressing nearly 400 staffers in the auditorium, with another 1,500 viewing the livestream from around the world.
Obviously, it was a fraught situation. But our crew, director/technical director John Bogley, videographers Albert Liesegang and Todd Burger, and audio engineer Josh Roberts, were ready.

All In a Two-Days’ Work
This was a two-day job, with Monday being a full setup day. Because it was an older building, our crew supplied and transported in all necessary equipment to capture and broadcast the meeting. This included the lighting, PA system, and cameras needed for the shoot, with two Sony FST 7 MII video cameras, a Sony robotic camera, the ATEM switcher, Behringer audio board, Aputure lighting, Sony wireless microphones, and more.
The next day was the livestream. The program featured opening remarks by Secretary Lutnick, followed by a vigorous Q&A from the audience, which took up most of the event.
The two cameras operated by Albert and Todd focused on the main participants on the auditorium stage, and the Sony robotic camera was trained on the audience to capture questions.
In the end, it was a smooth production, thanks to an experienced crew and proper planning and execution.
