As with everything else that the Covid-19 outbreak has impacted, funerals have changed.

MTI has received calls from people who have an urgent need to broadcast the funeral of their loved ones for family unable to be there in person.

What was previously unthinkable now has to be thought of in very particular ways. And MTI has the ability to cover a funeral anywhere and livestream to relatives however distant. Or to record the event and upload video to a secure server to be viewed after the fact.

The elegant restored Hendry House in Arlington, Va.’s Ft. CF Smith Park does not offer the bandwidth for livestreaming, but MTI videographer John Bogley was able to make get the shots and make the production work.

The presence of our video production equipment and personnel has to be utterly unobtrusive. With its Macbook Pro Encoders and Wirecast software, MTI can be on the scene and out of sight.

To achieve such an efficient small footprint can be a simple as one camera (Sony Fs7 Mark II or Panasonic AG DVX200), tripod, Macbook Pro laptop with Wirecast software, and a podium and/or wireless microphone.

Obviously, the location needs to have Internet capability to support a livestream from their facility.

This past Friday, MTI received a late call to cover a funeral at Hendry House, a restored 20th century mansion in Ft. CF Smith Park in Arlington, Virginia.

While beautiful, the Hendry House does not have the capability to support adequate livestreaming. So MTI videographer John Bogley went to the location and captured the funeral with just a Sony FS7 Mark II, a Sony wireless mic and a Shure podium mic. He then uploaded the video to a secure link online within hours, so that loved ones could view the proceedings. He also edited some pictures for an additional presentation in celebration of the life being honored.
