MTI answers the call to produce an all-hands hybrid event

Guidehouse Hybrid Event
Guidehouse CEO Scott McIntyre addresses an all-hands hybrid meeting for more than 5,000 employees.
MTI works with the global consultancy firm Guidehouse on a quarterly basis to produce hybrid events. The most recent was an all-hands meeting where Guidehouse CEO Scott McIntyre discussed the market impacts of the new administration and DOGE. As Guidehouse has offices around the world, there were more than 5,000 employees watching online, in addition to a full house in person.
Of course, with such frantic change and uncertainty emanating daily from the new administration, this was an especially important and dramatic event. Our crew had to be on top of their game to make sure that all of the participants in the program got the full benefit.
Hybrid Event Video Crew
The team was Scott McMahon handling the audio and streaming aspects and Greg Fabic handling video and lighting. Scott points out the four technical challenges that need to be considered when setting up for a hybrid or livestream shoot:
- Ensure clear audio for both the in-person and online audiences
- Create a high-quality video signal from the host location
- Produce a smooth signal chain through all technology interfaces
- Mitigate potential network connectivity problems
Adds Greg: “Assume four wireless mics; assume viewer participation. The production is likely to change right up to the day of production.”
Video Production Equipment
Even a small crew can handle a big job. The gear that Scott and Greg relied on to achieve their production goals for this hybrid event were: Soundcraft audio mixer; JBL Eon 610 speakers; Sony wireless lavalier mics; Shure wireless handheld mic; Magewell HDMI video capture card; and a Panasonic camera.
Even with just a two-man crew, the production went off smoothly.
