Documentary-Style Video Production Captures a Magic Mural

First Washington Realty came to MTI to produce a documentary-style video. As the owner of the Bradlee Shopping Center in Alexandria, Va., First Washington wanted to capture the process of creating a mural that spanned an entire wall of the shopping center. The theme of the mural was “peace and childhood innocence,” and was designed by D.C.-area artist Nicole Bourgea and realism graffiti artist Roberto “Sef” Seminario, who lead a team of students from Alexandria City High School in painting the elaborate artwork. The result was the Blueprint for Peace mural.

Businesses, artists, students, and the community came together to create a work of beauty in the Blueprint for Peace mural.

Capturing Art for Video’s Sake

MTI’s regular cameraman Jamie Sides both shot and edited the footage, which included interviews with the artists and students and people from First Washington Realty, as well as capturing the action of the art in process. He used the versatile and compact Canon C300 MII camera, which shoots 4K in cinematic mode.

The Blueprint for Peace mural won the 2024 Beautification Commercial Award from the Alexandria Beautification Commission. The mural is located at the south entrance of the Bradlee Shopping Center, 3624 King St, Alexandria, VA. You may watch it below.
