The MTI team maintaining a solid but subtle presence at the Kiwanis livestream event.
While progress is being made in opening up for in-person gatherings, most live events must still be limited in scope and capacity. That is why a livestream webcast can be the best option for reaching your audience. And properly produced, the event can be a rousing success. Such was the case with a recent Metro Teleproductions job.
MTI was contacted by the Kiwanis Club of Washington, D.C., to produce its 2021 Student Leader Awards Show, which recognizes outstanding leadership achievements of students in the District. The awards come with generous scholarships and is a Kiwanis tradition that embodies the motto: “Serving the Children of the world.”
Held at the historic Arts Club of Washington, the one-hour, outdoor limited-attendance event featured both a livestream over Vimeo, and also had to incorporate PowerPoint slide presentations and a remote guest joining over Zoom.
The Right Team in the Right Place

The MTI crew consisted of John Bogley (director of streaming/technical director), Tony Winthrop (director of videography), Bill Kaplan (audio engineer), with Dave Lilling producing.
The equipment used was the Sony Fs7 Mark II camera, a Blackmagic Design ATEM 2 switcher, and Amaran 200x Bi Color lights. Closed captioning was supplied by Ai-Media.
The results of MTI’s work: Many were able to join the livestream via their cellphone, laptop, or tablet.
In the end, there were six speakers presenting and 14 students who were recognized for their efforts. The program ran on schedule and everyone was pleased with the results. Even when things open up again, having a livestream of your event is a great way to include more people and get your brand noticed farther and wider.
