Helping German News Company BILD Report on the Johnny Depp Case
Along with everyone else on the planet, MTI was caught in the orbit of the trial of the century, the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard lawsuit. The German news organization BILD contacted us to provide video production services for their coverage of the case taking place in Fairfax County, Va.
The MTI videographer crew included Rob Klein, Julio Luzquinos, and Wesley Bailey III, who worked with BILD reporter Katie Pfleghar, who has been covering the trial since jury selection. MTI helped coordinate live shots with Katie. On selected days, MTI videographers shot B-roll of the many Depp supporters outside the courthouse, as well as interviews with those spectators, depending on the news of the day. These shots were taken with the Sony FS7 MarkII.
Katie did selected live reports using Skype. In this new era, the Skype app is widely accepted and used, when bringing in satellite trucks is not feasible. MTI of course is skilled at providing full-service livestream production.
There is no special access to the trial for media, so Katie has to queue up just like everyone else for one of the 150 seats in the courtroom. The interest in the case has caused people to get in line at midnight for a seat the next morning.
The trial will continue on May 16, and the judge is expecting to submit the case to the jury before the end of the month. MTI will be there to give people around the world the inside scoop.
