Metro Teleproductions was hired by Scott McMahon, president of IMPAC-t of Falls Church, Va., back in August of 2020 to provide video production services to the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University (GAI). Since 1965, GAI has offered education and training programs about congressional processes and legislative policy issues.

These sessions are usually held on Capitol Hill, and run all day, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Because of Covid, that schedule proved unworkable. So MTI has been using its expertise in online, webcast, and live-streaming technologies to make sure that the courses remain available. And fortunately, all members of the MTI production team are fully vaccinated, an absolute requirement.

Picture Perfect: Sometimes Two Cameras Are Better Than One

The resulting programs utilize two cameras, with a switcher to cut between shots where needed. There are some presenters who are on-site; guest presenters are on Zoom. All of the presenters use Powerpoint slides, so MTI utilizes the picture-in-picture format so that both the presenter (in a small onscreen box) and the information (in full-screen) may be viewed at once.
